Automated Line-side Labeling Solutions
To simplify and error-proof your process of labeling Finished Product, SPEDE Technologies has developed three automated solutions for printing labels on-demand, at the production line:
- Push-Button Labeling
- Line-side Labeler
- TouchScreen Labeling
These solutions use a small configurable RF Push-button or Touch-screen terminal installed at line-side to control the label that can be printed. The RF terminal connects to a label printer at the line via RF or serial port. It communicates with the SPEDE Labeling Software on a server PC via the 802.11 network.
No PC or Confusing Software to Use: The label prints by simply pushing a button or touching the screen, using real-time data from your ERP system.

New Label Validation Solution! Are you currently batch-printing labels? Keep your current process, but error-proof it using SPEDE Line-side Label Validation.
"We have 28 work cells in this plant.
So far we've printed over 180,000 labels for the F-150
without a single labeling error."

Just Push the Button -
the Correct Label will Print
Push-Button Labeling at Line-side
We designed the RF Push-button terminal for use at production lines where a machine makes a single Part Number at a time.
The Push-button can be configured by the Supervisor to print only the label for the Part Number being made.
The SPEDE software associates the Push-button with the Part Number. It prints a sample label that can be affixed to the surface of the Push-Button to indicate which label will print.
When a label is needed, the operator pushes the button which sends a signal to the SPEDE Labeling Software. SPEDE sends the correct data to the printer at that line, and the label immediately prints.

Line-side Labeler Solution
Touch the Screen to
Print a label
Line-side Labeler
The SPEDE Line-side Labeler Solution uses the new Symbol MK500, a fixed-mount RF TouchScreen with a small 5"x7" footprint, and an integrated scanner in its base.
At line-side, the MK500 can be configured to print the specific label for that line. The SPEDE Labeling Software will display that Part Number data onscreen. To print a label, just touch the screen.
The MK500 can also display a virtual keyboard for entering non-standard pack counts, and displaying status messages such as the quantiity of labels printed, pack count data and more.
Connects to a PLC -
The MK500 can trigger labels to print automatically when it receives a signal from a PLC that a pack count of good parts has been made. It can connect to the PLC via RS232.
RF TouchScreen
Touch the Photo of the Part
TouchScreen Labeling at Line-side
SPEDE RF TouchScreen Labeling was designed for production lines where a machine makes more than one Part Number at a time, requiring a variety of different labels to be printed and applied.
To eliminate operator confusion in deciding which label to print, the SPEDE RF TouchScreen solution displays a photo of the Part Numbers being made.
To print a label, the operator simply touches the photo of the part that needs a label. The photo is associated with its Part Number data in the SPEDE Label Database, and the correct label is triggered to print automatically.
The RF TouchScreen can be connected to one or more label printers in the work cell via RF and/or serial connection.
