Real-time warehouse control is an integrated function of the Raw Material, WIP and Finished Goods modules. These automated warehouse functions include:
- Receipts
- Putaways, Moves
- Issues
- Picking, Staging
- Quarantines
- Cycle counts, Physical counts
- Inquiries, Reports
SPEDE Advantages:
- Automates warehouse processes using RFID and/or RF scanning
- Disciplines material handling activities to prevent errors
- Warehouse locator system provides real-time inventory visibility
- FIFO control prevents obsolescence
Automates Warehousing
Real-time Warehouse Locator System
SPEDE’s integrated warehouse locator system provides real-time inventory visibility of serialized units of material by part/quantity/location. Scanning the location whenever a unit of material is moved enables you to store and move parts virtually anywhere, and instantly locate them. This enables a more flexible and efficient use of warehouse space, while eliminating wasted time and labor consumed by chasing parts.
With SPEDE’s real-time validation of every material transaction, you can trust that the part/quantity/location data displayed on the worker’s RF handheld will precisely match the physical parts to be found at that location.
Picking Control
Real-time Control over Picking / Issuing
SPEDE receives picklist or shipper data from the ERP or Release Accounting system, which directs the picking process. By scanning the unit’s serial number as it is picked, SPEDE confirms the part/quantity is correct.
When issuing raw material to production, SPEDE allocates the serial number to the work order, creating lot/serial traceability of the raw components into WIP. When picking finished product, SPEDE allocates the serial number to the customer order to ensure that all picked units for the order will be shipped – whether they are staged first or shipped immediately.
Real-time visibility of picked and staged items lets you see the status of orders in process. SPEDE can receive real-time changes to a customer order while it is in the picking or staging process, and ensure that the order is correctly modified before it is shipped.
Use RFID and/or Barcode Scanning
SPEDE applications accept data directly from RFID and barcode scanning. This means you can use either or both technologies throughout your plant floor and warehouse areas to automate and control material handling processes, and get real-time visibility of inventory and plant floor events. RFID eliminates the need for manual scanning, which further error-proofs processes and increases productivity.
The new Symbol RD5000 Mobile RFID Reader can be mounted to forklifts, conveyors, carts, rolling ladders, and other mobile equipment. It provides the flexibility to record RFID transactions anywhere within the wireless network, without being limited to fixed-mount RFID readers at specific locations. Depending on your environment and business needs, mobile RFID readers could be used to record material moves, counts, issues/picks and ship transactions.
